Dr. Sandra Ekstedt, senior scientist at Oxcia and affiliated to Karolinska Institutet, has received funding from Karolinska Institutet to deepen studies on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a chronic and challenging lung disease. The project aims to compare different methods to better mimic the disease progression in humans, supporting the development of novel treatments.
Using cutting-edge techniques, Sandra Ekstedt will evaluate lung function and tissue characteristics to identify the most accurate model of human IPF. This study is expected to enhance our understanding of the disease, refine preclinical research methods, and improve translatability to clinical applications.
